Choosing a size for a door
Internal doors in UK homes are usually between 69 and 84 cm wide. A 20 or 30 cm sign sits comfortably on most of them with plenty of space either side, and 40 cm suits a long name or a wide door. If the door has panels, measure the flat panel you'd like the sign to sit on and choose a size a few centimetres narrower.
Fixing it to the door
Clean the door where the sign will go, let it dry, then press the sign firmly into place. The tape needs a smooth surface, so it won't grip on heavily textured finishes. If the door has just been painted, give the paint a few weeks to harden before you put the sign up.
Natural wood or painted
The four wood veneers look at home on white, painted and natural wood doors alike. If you'd like the sign in a colour, choose unpainted MDF and paint it to match the room.
Sizes
Each size sets the most your name can measure: a maximum width and a maximum height. We scale the name up until it reaches one of them, so long names fill the width and short names reach the full height, and no name is ever stretched or squashed.
That means a very short name such as El comes out narrower than the size you choose. The designer shows the exact measurements of any name.

Choose your finish
Wood veneer signs are 4 mm thick: a real wood veneer on an MDF core, so the grain on yours is one of a kind. Unpainted MDF signs are 3 mm thick and ready for you to paint.

Choose your font
Swirly is a flowing, joined-up script with elegant loops. Scribble is looser and more playful, with the bounce of real handwriting.
Personalising

Hanging
Every sign comes with strong 3M double-sided tape, so there's no drilling. Stick it to a smooth, clean, dry surface and press firmly.
